y 365...
Today was surgery day for Jack. He did make it through okay, which is the good news. The surgeon was able to go into the artery of his left leg, and place a stent just behind his knee. He was not happy about the choice of placement, but did not have any other options. The right leg was much more complicated. Jack has had some clotting in that leg that has caused some damage, so he was unable to do any repairs or stents. The plan is to start Jack on some Plavix, and wait a couple of weeks and try again. Unfortunately Jack is not a good candidate for bypass due to the condition of his arteries. The damage to the arteries in the lower legs is pretty bad.
All in all the surgeon was very surprised at how severe Jack's condition is being that he is only 51 years old, and otherwise very healthy and fit. A family history of heart disease coupled with years and years of smoking have taken a serious toll on him. The bottom line is that he needs to quit smoking! I feel for him, because I have been with the man for almost 30 years, and he has never had any success in quitting. I appreciate how difficult it is going to be for him, but he HAS to do it this time! NO MORE SMOKING! I am hoping Garrett and Casey get that message too.
Speaking of Casey, he was beside himself because he was not able to make it back to town in time to be with his daddy. He was so worried, but I reassured him that everything was fine. He is such an awesome son my Casey. All four of my boys are amazing.
Day one of this journey down, and we have a ways to go. I was overwhelmed with messages of love and support from family and friends, and we can't thank all of your enough for your thoughts and prayers. There is no greater power than prayer, so thank you. *love*
Jack is home now and will be resting for the next few days. Then in a week or two, the surgeon will go in and try to fix his right leg. Blake and I knew daddy was going to be okay when the nurse had him stand up for the first time after surgery to test out his legs, and mooned us all. LOL That man!
Hope your day was a good one planet. Until next time...
Yummm, hospital food.
Blake went down to the hospital gift shop, and bought me a little surprise. :)
Yep, daddy is ready to get the heck out of the hospital!
Peace.
