Hello Dear Family,

My quiet weekend was cut short, but that is okay with me.  Blake decided last night that he missed home, so he had big brother Garrett drive to Nampa to pick him up.  Blake tries so hard to be Mr. tough guy, but deep down inside, he is still my little boy.  I feel loved.  :)

Today we are enjoying a lazy day.  It is too hot to be outside, so instead we are enjoying some Minecraft and movies.  Our favorite things to do.  And the dogs are thrilled to have Blake home too.  School starts in 4 weeks, so I am going to enjoy my Blake time for as long as I can.

Hope you had a great weekend planet!  Best wishes for an awesome week ahead.

Until next time...

Hello Dear Family,

Mama had a dream.  Uh oh...you know what that means?  Mama has a plan!  And I do.  I think you will all approve.

In January, Brandon and Amber took me to McCall Idaho.  We stayed in an adorable RV campground in the mountains.  There was a central lodge surrounded by little cabins.  The little cabins were perfect little three bedroom homes with full kitchen and bath.  They were awesome, and it was heaven.  Perfectly in line with my dream home, which would be small living space...huge view.

In less than three years, daddy will be retiring.  At that time, we will have access to a pretty substantial nest egg.  Initially, I thought that daddy and I might travel, buy a small house in the mountains, and retire comfortably.  But now I have decided to build our family village.  I picture a few acres of land between Boise and McCall or Stanley.  On this land we will have our main house, and all around the main house, little cabins.  One for each one of my sons, and one for me.  The boys will be involved in building their own spaces with their own hands.  No labor costs involved.  In the main house we will offer our services to the community. Everyone can finally have their dream.  Amber and Brandon will have their bakery and restaurant, Garrett will have his photography studio, Casey can work on his auto restorations, Blake can raise and breed dogs, and daddy and I can do whatever hobby makes us happy.  It will be our legacy to our children, and their children and on and on and on.

We will have chickens, a beautiful garden, half a dozen Great Danes and Great Pyrenees, solar panels and of course satellite Internet.  Can't live without satellite Internet ya know.

When I first mentioned my idea to Garrett, he looked at me funny and laughed.  After a very short discussion, and the realization that I am serious, he was definitely on board with the idea.  Everyone knows that once I put my mind to something, I make it so.  I have lived my entire life fulfilling my dreams.  Often I jump...then build my wings on the way down, but at least I take that first step.  After all, we only have one life to live.  You have to live your dreams.

Garrett and I discussed documenting the entire process, and making a movie or writing a book about the building of our little village.  After all, maybe someday you will want a family village of your own.

Mark my words family, we will do this, and it will be amazing!!

"Amber honey, we better start planning now, my queen of the planning committee."  :)

I am so excited!!

Hope your weekend is going great planet.

Until next time...

Hello Dear Family,

Happy weekend everyone.  Looks like mama is going to have a very quiet weekend.  Blake has been invited by my grandson Cooper to go to Nampa for the weekend.  Blake loves spending time with his big brother Brandon, and sis Amber.  School will be starting soon, so this is the perfect weekend to spend with them. Garrett is probably going to be working all weekend, Casey only comes home to sleep...he is 19 ya know...and Jack is working this weekend too.  Oh my goodness, two solid days of peace and quiet? I declare, whatever shall I do?  Sounds dreadful...said no one ever.  *grin*  Oh who am I kidding, I will miss the heck out of my youngest son.  Life is too quiet when he is not around.

It is funny to watch Blake pack for a two day vacation.  Anyone would think he was permanently moving out.  The shoes have to match the hat, which have to match the shirt.  He can be such a diva about color coordination...just like his big brothers.  Then there are the electronic devices.  He has to take his Galaxy-Tab 10.1 so that he can check his Facebook, and Skype with mama.  His 3DS so he can play Nintendo with Cooper and Brandon, and of course the XBox, just in case he runs out of games to play.  He would pack up his computer if I let him.  He would probably take Dozer and Miss Lilly too.  Like I said...it is like he moving out.  Silly Blake.  :)

We did enjoy another gorgeous day in Boise today.  I really wish I could put a freeze frame on the weather yesterday and today.  It has been so perfect.

Hope your Friday has been a pleasant one planet.  Have a great weekend!

Hello Dear Family,

Today was a gorgeous day!  It was so breezy and cool, and we did not even make it to 80°f.  Definitely my kind of day.  It made me so excited for Autumn, which is my favorite season.

Unfortunately, next week's forecast calls for 99°f days again.  Blurgh.  Just a few more weeks, and the days will be nice and cool again. :)

Hope you had a great day today planet.

Until next time...

Hello Dear Family,

The lightning storm we had last night was incredible.  I don't think I have ever seen anything like it. However, in true Idaho fashion...there was barely a drop of rain over our house.  Fortunately there was some rain where the lightning sparked fires.  What is really crazy is that Garrett had just left the house to walk to the gym that is less than 2 blocks away.  Blake and I were outside taking pictures just when the huge lightning bolt hit.  Blake was so worried about Garrett, because he would have been around the block just where that bolt touched ground. Blake was sure that Garrett was hit.

When Garrett got home from the gym, he had indeed felt the electric jolt from that lightning bolt.  He was not sure where it hit, but the flash just about blinded him, and he said he felt the power in every cell of his body. So much so that it freaked him out.  Garrett never gets freaked out.  He also said that the experience left him realizing just how small we really are.

I posted my pictures to our local news station, and they featured my best shot on their Facebook page, and in the news story.  "Thanks KTVB!"  :)

Thank you God for not letting the lightning hit Garrett directly.  And thank you Garrett for helping me with the camera settings to capture the perfect picture.  :)

Hope your Wednesday is going well planet.

Until next time...

Hello Dear Family,

I enjoyed a delightfully long visit with my son Brandon and my precious grandchildren Cooper and Penny.  It has only been since April since I have seen them last, but to Blake and I, it felt like forever!

Cooper ran into the house and into my arms with a big hug and kiss.  He was just as excited to see me as I was him.  Penny took a little longer.  She walked into my room, squatted down, and just stared at me for several minutes.  I could see in her beautiful eyes that she knew who I was, but was not quite sure.  After she gave me a huge smile, she let me pull her into my arms for a great big grandma hug.  She even put her little head down on my shoulder for a sweet Penny snuggle.

These two children are the most brilliant little spirits I have ever met, truly, they are.  I could sit and listen to Cooper talk for hours.  He is a genius!  Little miss Penny can command a room with her bright blue eyes, and her heart-melting smile.  Oh my goodness she is such a sweet little love bug, she truly is.  At one point I said to Penny, "Come here my little sweetheart" and Cooper crawled on to my lap and said, "Penny is not your little sweetheart grandma, I am."  Awwwww.  *love*

Our evening was just about winding down, when uncle Garrett walked through the door.  He was so excited to see Cooper and Penny.  Even though he had been working hard all day, he could not wait to have some playtime with his nephew and niece.  He and Cooper enjoyed a fun, live, game of Pokemon.  Cooper called out all these fantastic names of his Pokemons, while Garrett named his Pokemon, "Parmesan Cheese" and they chased each other around the house.  LOL, only uncle Garrett could think up a name that hilarious.

We truly enjoyed our visit.  I loved watching my son Brandon being the most amazing father on the planet. He truly is wonderful.  Amber stopped by for her dinner break as well, and it was great getting to catch up with her as well.  She looked beautiful as always.  Towards the end of the evening, uncle Casey came home, and little Penny was happy to see uncle Casey too.

Life has been a little challenging from me since April.  I have not been myself at all, and my health has been a challenge.  Having all my family here with me was the boost I needed.  Thank you God for my wonderful family, and thank you Garrett, Brandon, Amber, Casey, Blake, Cooper and Penny for being the best family a mama could ever hope for.  I love you all. :)
