My 365...

I can't believe it is already the last day of April, my favorite month of the year. It has been a good month for the most part.  I turned the big 5-0 and the world did not explode.  :)  Brandon and Amber are back in my life stronger than ever, and my heart did explode...but from being so happy.  The boys did great on their state testing for Reading, Language and Math and I am so very proud of them.

Garrett's month is ending on a bit of a difficult note, but being Garrett he always sees the positive that comes from the negative, and the changes in his life are going to be amazing!  I am so proud of his spirit and positive attitude.

I woke up this morning thinking it was Sunday, and so happy to discover that it is only Saturday.  :)

My photos of the day, despite the cold weather...Spring has sprung!

Music I am listening to today,  Colbie Caillat.

Until next time...sometimes you never know what you had until its gone...why wait?

My 365...

What was I thinking?  I stayed up until well past 5:00am to watch the Royal wedding, then was up before 9:00am for the day.  Was it worth it?  YES!  I thought it was an amazing wedding.  Blake woke up and watched with me.  We enjoyed it.  Fortunately he got to sleep in today...mama did not!

I received some results from Blake's testing, and he had excellent scores.  I am SO proud of him!!  When I told him he responded, "Well duh mom, I knew I would do great."  :)

Brandon and grandson Cooper came to spend the afternoon and evening with us today.  Brandon had a great time with the boys, and I had a great time enjoying sweet baby Cooper.  <3  He is so adorable, and such a funny little boy.  He lets you know when he is a bit perturbed, but was pretty easy going tonight.  We loved having him here.  He loves his uncle Blakey, and grandpa Jack!

I told Brandon we need to make this a weekly visit, and he agreed.  I am thrilled beyond words to have my son and his beautiful family back in my life.  I love him sooooo much!

Have an awesome weekend world, I plan on catching up on some sleep.

Until next time...

Dinner is served!

I made biscuits and gravy for dinner tonight, but added some fresh jalapeno and tomato for color. It really added some great flavor too. :)

My 365...

Ever have one of those days where you don't even want to get out of bed? I am having one today. Blake is not feeling well, so he is snuggled up next to me on the bed sleeping, and I don't want to wake him. Maybe I will just work from here today.  :)

He is grown up so fast, yet when he is sleeping he still looks like my sweet little baby boy. Don't tell him I said that though! He is no baby! I hate it when he is not feeling well.   Must be something going around because Garrett has been sick too. To be honest, we have all been moving a bit slow the past few days.

Maybe I will just take the day off. Sounds like a plan to me.

Photo of the day...
Some bright and beautiful color on an otherwise gray and dreary day.

Music I am listening to today, One Republic.

Thoughts and prayers to my friend Amanda who lost her baby brother yesterday, age 23, in a tragic accident.

And thoughts and prayers for all the people in the South effected by these terrible storms.

Until next time...tell the people in your life that you love them...every chance you get.

"Today might be "human" day, but every day is Miss Lilly day!"

April 27, 2011

Happy Human Day!

Today is a new day, wonder what I will learn?  When you go somewhere out of your own realm, out of your own comfort zone, that is learning.

Last night my nephew sent me a lyric that he had written, and I posted it below, "Born this way."  Eric is 22 years old, and one of the most amazing spirits I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.  There is so much knowledge in that amazing brain of his.  Not a conversation with him passes where I am not completely astounded by the beautiful thoughts he shares.  Eric is gay.  I will be honest, I really do not understand homosexuality, but that does not mean I do not love and fully accept those who are.  I love Eric with all my heart, and will be supportive and loving of him until the day I die.  I do not look at Eric as a gay human, I look at Eric as a beautiful, amazing, intelligent and creative young man who I love with all my heart.

We should not have races, denominations, colors, genders, judgment...we are all one single group of living creature...HUMAN.  We were all created equally and we should all be loved, respected and treated equally.  Period.  There is no other logic needed.  Born human, live human, love human and die human. Black, white, brown, yellow, orange, christian, catholic, homosexual, heterosexual, rich poor, professional, unemployed, successful, homeless, man, woman, young, old...we are all human!  We are ALL the same!  The only way we are going to survive and thrive in this thing called life is if we learn to cooperate and live as one.

Today is all we have, tomorrow is a gift.  You should live every moment of every day as if it were your last.  Imagine how amazing life would be if we all did just that.  Every single day would be a celebration of life.  No judgement, no anger...just cooperation and love.  I can handle it.

My photo of the day...

Music of the day, Sara McLachlan.

Until next time...Life is a song, and you have your own special musical note to that song.  In order for the music to sound amazing, you have to play your part.  Play your note...be part of the song.

My 365...

It is Tuesday, yay!  Really?  Tuesday?  Who cares?  Just another day right?  Yes, just another day...thank you for just another day.  :)

It must be my age.  I have always been appreciative of  "just another day", but now I really seem to celebrate every day.  Years ago when I was building my career and traveling all over the country, I wish I had appreciated each day as it came.  It seems I was always looking forward to next week...or next month.  Maybe that is why time went by so quickly?  We don't take the time to savor each day.

Garrett called me last night to talk about life.  He has so many things he wants to do with his life but feels like he is stuck in the day to day grind of living, leaving no time for the dreams.  I told him not to worry.  He has been blessed with an incredible creative talent and "know how" to see his dreams come to light.  It will happen for him, I have no doubts about that at all.

I have no doubts about any of my children.  I know they will do what they dream of doing and they will succeed and be happy.  :)

My photo of the day...
After Easter sales.  Jack found these adorable little ceramic Easter eggs on sale for 50 cents each, so he brought me three.  They are so pretty and cheerful.

Music I am listening to today, Amy Winehouse.  Garrett told me he was listening to her a lot lately, so I decided to give her music a spin.

Until next time...Today is my favorite day, but tomorrow is too.

Dozer basking in a little sunshine after the storms...

April 25, 2011

My 365...

I love a delightful spring shower, but I adore a rip-roaring Texas sized thunder storm and that is what we had this morning.  It was so awesome waking up to the thunder bouncing off the mountains and echoing through the valley.  We do not get storms like that often enough!

However, Blake is not a fan of storms.  He always worries that one of the many huge trees in the yard will come crashing down on our heads.  Whenever it storms like it did this morning, he orders us all to "stay together!"  :)  Fortunately other than some hail and heavy rain, the winds were fairly calm.

We all felt quite safe with Blake in charge.

After the storm we went outside to check the flowers, hoping that the hail did not destroy them.

They all look great thank goodness.  :)

I am enjoying a nice day off with the boys.  They have testing tomorrow for reading which I know they will do fine with as they are both amazing readers.

We had such a terrific Easter weekend, and it was wonderful to have my family together with me.  We were missing my daughter, but she still prefers to be on the outside looking in.  Perhaps some day she will realize the burden of carying around ill will and grudges is just too darn heavy and she will put it all down.  How anyone can continue to live with that much anger in their heart and still manage to breathe is beyond my comprehension.  We do love her very much, and want her to be a part of our family more than anything.  <3

No music today, no TV today, just reading.  :)

Until tomorrow....Heaven is other people holding you in their hearts.

My 365...

For me it is not about Easter bunnies, chocolate, egg hunts, and jelly beans. It is not about bible quotations or crazy hallelujah church services either. For me, Easter is about love, family, peace, compassion, understanding and taking a moment to be thankful for all those things.

It is about waking up "every" morning and knowing that you have a responsibility to yourself, to those you love, and even strangers, to be kind, accepting and good to one another.

I do not need to go to church, I do not need to know bible verses, and I certainly do not need to be of any particular religious denomination to know these things. I believe, I have faith, I love and I respect...so yes, I get it. I understand, and it comes from my heart. <3

This morning when I woke up, I discovered my first bloom!  God does have perfect timing.  :)

Happy Easter world!

Be kind to one another, and don't judge.  After all, that is all HE wanted for us.

And of course, eat Peeps!  Wouldn't be Easter without some sticky, yummy Peeps!

Music I am listening to today, Melissa McClelland.

Until next time...be kind, share your Peeps with the world.
