My 365...
As we close in on Thanksgiving this week, I am reminded of just how very thankful I am. We have experienced many setbacks and difficulties during the past 6 months that started with Jack losing his job of almost 10 years, two days after his 50th birthday. Then me being laid off from one of my more steady income sources just a few days later. We have felt the fear and uncertainty that many people face when something like this happens so unexpectedly.
It is easy to take life for granted. We wake up every morning and go on about our day, assuming...no, expecting, that nothing can change. We are doing what we are supposed to do, living by the rules, why should we worry? I am here to tell you that things can change. Life has a way of throwing you a curve ball when you least expect it. So many people in this world are experiencing this every single second of every single day. The key is to remain faithful. Know, really know, in your heart that everything is going to be okay. Keep a positive attitude. Don't be afraid to reach out for help when you need it. And above all, be thankful for all that you do have. Keep perspective. Strengthen the core that is your family. Without each other, surviving the bad times is much harder to do.
This holiday season I am thankful for so many things. I am thankful for the basics. A roof over our head, electricity and fresh water, food on the table and shoes on our feet. I am thankful for the positive attitude that God gave me so that I will never let us give up or lose faith. I am thankful for good health. I am thankful for the community I live in and the kindness of strangers. I am thankful for my family, who love with all their heart. I am thankful that Jack and I are both working again. And I am thankful for the occasional dark storm. For it is through these dark storms that we are able to see, enjoy and appreciate the rainbow that will eventually shine through.
This will be a glorious Thanksgiving. May yours be as well. :)
