December 15, 2012

Hello Saturday,

Today is such a gray and dreary day, and I am not just referring to the weather.  I am feeling quite gray and dreary myself.

As more details emerge about the shooting in Connecticut, I feel so, so sad.  Sad for the children, who were so innocent and young, yet facing the unspeakable terror of their last few moments here on earth. Sad for their teachers who did everything they could to protect them, and giving the ultimate sacrifice of their own life.  Sad for the families who have lost so much.  Their joy, their sunshine, and their own sense of security and faith in the human race.

And I feel sad for Adam Lanza.  Sad for this young man's spirit and soul that were so lost, so far gone...that he had no humanity left in his heart.  How did it come to this?

So many people suffer from mental illness.  Depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, the list goes on.  There has to be more that we as a society can do to help them.  Help them before it is too late.

I can't hate Adam Lanza.  For one thing, hate takes up a lot of real estate in one's heart.  Space that should be filled with love, hope,  happiness and forgiveness.  Why give up any space to hate?  Hate is an emotion that serves no purpose other than to darken the spirit.  No room for hate here. Instead I feel very sad for Adam Lanza.  Sad that he could not find the help he needed to have hope.  The help he needed to keep his heart free of hate.  And sad for his mom and his family.

Mental illness is just that...and illness.  You would not walk up to a terminally ill person dying of cancer and tell them, "I hate you."  Then why on earth would you say the same to a person who is mentally ill?

I pray for the 20 angels.

Charlotte Bacon, Daniel Barden, Olivia Engel, Josephine Gay, Ana M Marquez-Greene, Dylan Hockley, Madeleine F Hsu, Catherine V Hubbard, Chase Kowalski, Jesse Lewis, James Mattioli, Grace McDonnell, Emilie Parker, Jack Pinto, Noah Pozner, Caroline Previdi, Jessica Rekos, Avielle Richman, Benjamin Wheeler, Allison N Wyatt,

I pray for the guardian angels that were here on earth to care for those 20 angels.
Dawn Hocksprung, Anne Marie Murphy, Lauren Russeau, Mary Sherlach, Victoria Soto, Rachel Davino

I pray for the families of all the victims who are suffering unspeakable sadness today.  I can not even begin to fathom the pain and sorrow they are feeling.  :*(

I pray for all the emergency personnel who responded to this tragedy.  Having to witness this horror first hand.  I can't imagine how difficult that must have been.

And I pray for all people who are suffering from depression, abuse, helplessness.  I pray that they are able to seek help and get treatment before it is too late.

We should all love more, and judge less.

Peace.  <3
