My 365...

Flowers for mommy.  Blake picked a flower for me this afternoon so that I would feel better.  He is so sweet.  :)

Today certainly feels like Monday.  But that is okay...it is almost over.  Short weeks are a good thing.

Jack's birthday is this weekend so I have decided to plan a nice dinner for him and invite Garrett, Brandon, Amber and Cooper over.  We will have "Thanksgiving" in June!  A full turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

We only eat Turkey once a year and that is just silly, so starting this year, I will create a new tradition of turkey dinner for Jack's birthday.  Sounds good to me!

Back to work...hope you all had an awesome day.

Music I am listening to today...none.  Casey is watching the History channel.  lol.

Until next time...every day should be Thanksgiving!

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Love,

Goodbye Three-Day Weekend...

Despite the fact I was not feeling 100 percent, this was a great restful weekend.  :)

Jack and the boys and I enjoyed each other's company, and that is always a good thing!

Have a great Tuesday world!

Good night...

Dinner is served!

Kowboy Klops...that is what I shall call these.

I made some biscuits and gravy tonight with a twist. Instead of only having sausage in the gravy, I made sausage balls, wrapped them in flaky bread dough and fried. Served up with steamy baked beans and spicy gravy (added some cayenne pepper), and it came out very yummy!

May not look very pretty, but is was good comfort food.  The boys loved it!

Let the sun shine...please!

Still raining this morning, but the sun did peak out enough this afternoon for us to go outside for some much needed fresh air.  Blake has so much energy that he gets cranky if he does not have a chance to run it off.

My photo of the day...

On your mark...get set...go!!  Blake and Miss Lilly had a race around the yard.  Guess who won?  :)

Hope you had a great weekend!

My 365...

Hello Sunday.  Why do you have to be so soggy?  Still cold and raining today, it is no wonder I have been sick for days.

I had a funny conversation with Casey this morning...

"Casey, it is time to get up."

"In a minute mom."

This went on for a good 20 minutes.

"Casey get up now!"

"I said one minute mom!"

Casey's wake up can take up to a full hour.  Ugh!

He was finally awake and came into the kitchen to empty the dishwasher for me...

"Mom, can you make some sausage for breakfast?"

"Sure son, in a minute."

"How long is a minute mom?"

"I don't know honey...you tell me."  LOL, mama revenge can be so sweet!  :)

My photo of the day...

I walked into the living room to find Blake giving daddy some basic computer lessons.  It is so cute to listen to his training sessions.  Blake is very patient and very computer savvy.  Whenever Jack has a question, Blake will come running over and help him out.  :)

Music I am listening to today...David Cook.

Happy cold and soggy Saturday.  A perfect day to bundle up with a good read.

I have been feeling under the weather this week and am moving particularly slow.  There are so many great and amazing medications for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I am thankful for that, but they all destroy your immune system which can be a bit of a bummer.  I was hoping to see Brandon, Amber and Cooper this weekend, but I need to wait until I am feeling better.  *sniff*  :*(

So for this weekend, major vegging is what the doctor ordered!

Hope you are enjoying a nice lazy Saturday too.

My 365...

Happy Friday, and happy three-day weekend!

There will be no Memorial Day picnics for us this weekend as the forecast is calling for chilly and wet.  The high today was 57 degrees f., and raining.  I love this weather, but not exactly outdoor fun climate.

That is okay, we have a weekend of movie time and Terraria gaming planned.  Should be lots of fun!

After school lessons today, Blake and I enjoyed a little Playmobil fun.   The boys have a nice collection of Playmobil toys, and Blake has them all organized.  They are his favorite thing to play with.

Back to work for me.  I am working until 9pm, then I can sit back and enjoy my weekend.

Music I am listening to today, Bruno Mars.

My 365...

Thursday, May 26, 2011 8:30 AM

The boys are still sleeping and the house is so quiet.  I have a load of laundry going, dogs have been fed, and my day is off to a good start.  :)

So hard to believe that another home school year is coming to a close.  Home schooling is a lot of work, but so worth it having the boys safe at home.  There are days when neither of them wants to do anything, and those days can be a challenge, but it is not difficult to turn them around.

The easy thing to do would be to send them back to mainstream school.  Then my days would be free and easy...just the dogs and I.  To be honest, I would much rather have them home with me.  It is so exciting watching Blake learn new things, and seeing them both develop into responsible young men.  I leave it up to them.  As long as they continue to do well, and continue to take responsibility for their assignments, I have told them both we can continue to participate in K12's online curriculum.  If they choose to slack, I will send them back to school.  The choice is theirs, and I think that is a good thing.

K12 is an excellent opportunity.  It is not traditional home school where you are completely on your own.  There is an entire staff of teachers and other professionals that help you along the way.  Casey has weekly online classes that he has to log into and participate in.  He has met some new friends through K12 so the social aspect of being a kid is definitely there.  Blake's online teacher is awesome.  We hear from her everyday to make sure Blake is doing well, and she is always available if I have any questions or difficulty along the way.  And they are so efficient too!  I signed Blake up for a language class this summer, and all his materials arrived by UPS this morning.

If you are considering home school for your children, K12 is definitely the way to go!

Back to work for me.

My photo of the day...
My early morning partner in crime.  Miss Lilly is always by my side.  This morning she is growling at the neighbor as she spies on him through the window.  He is working on the yard, and she is not very happy to have a stranger this close to her territory.  Her little growl is so ferocious...she makes me laugh.

Everyone has a partner in crime.  Mine just happens to be a Diva!  I never dreamed in a million years I would have a tiny little female doggy in my life.  I have always had huge dogs, and they have always been males.  This little Diva is the love of my life.  My special little bff.  :)

My 365...

I would have never thought a simple $10 game, Terraria, would be the edge we needed to engage Jack in fun time...but it is.  He is enjoying this little game so much!

We were playing together last night and having so much fun we did not realize it was well after midnight.  Jack is never up past 10:00pm.  The noises Jack was making during game play were hilarious!  At one point Casey said "Aww look, daddy is experiencing his first gamer's rage."  LOL!!  Finally about 2:00am I said, "Okay boys time for bed!  You too Jack."

When I got up this morning, there was Jack back on the computer playing the game.  You have to understand, Jack is not a computer person.  The limit to his computer activity is checking Craig's List for a good buy, or playing solitaire.  He does not even know how to use email.  It was so cute to find him sitting in front of Terraria mining away.  Then I heard him excitedly say to Blake, "Son, look what I just built!"

Today is his day off, and when he is off he is busy working on the yard, or he will polish the floors, do the laundry, clean the bathroom.  Even though he is home, we do not see much of him.  Now with a game we can all enjoy together, life will be far more interesting for the boys.  They have something they can share with daddy.

What I love about this game is that it is not just silly gaming.  You mine to get raw materials, or chop trees down to get wood.  There is a crafting table to use the wood to create the materials needed to build a house.  Walls, doors, tables and chairs.  In mining you can discover iron, copper, silver and gold.  With those materials you can go to the anvil and craft buckets and weapons.  There is also a furnace you can us to smelt sand into glass to make windows or jars.

If you build your homes according the the rules, you can attract a merchant to sell your goods, a nurse that can heal you if you are wounded in battle, an arms dealer or demolition man to help you upgrade your weapons to fight the bad guys.  With multi-player I can create a server and we connect the four computers in the house to the server and we all play together.  It really is a brilliant little game!

This is another bush in my backyard that I love.  These tiny little flowers are so beautiful.

Game Time.

Blake taught daddy how to play Terraria this evening.  We are now a "Terraria" family.

It is funny to listen to them play together.

Blake is a stinker to play with.  I was playing with him last night and the phone rang.  I created a concrete barrier around my character so it would not be slain while I was talking on the phone.  Blake's little character snuck in out of the left, hammered a hole in my wall, tossed in a stick of dynamite. recovered the hole and ran away.  He blew me up!  LOL,

I laughed so hard.   He is a stinker!!

It is a good thing everyone in the house has their own computer, or we would be competing for Terraria time!

Love,

Dinner is served!

I had some left over bread dough from my sopapillas the other night and decided to put it to good use.  I call these..."Mama V's surprise balls."  LOL

I rolled out the dough in little rounds, took some turkey hot dogs and sliced them into bite size bits, add some cheese and jalapeno slices.  Used the bread dough to cover and pinch into a neat little package and fry.  They are delicious!  The dough is light and crispy.

You can cover and fry just about anything!

Some roasted assorted veggies on the side, and you have a meal.

Cook time...10 minutes.  :)

My 365...

Hello Tuesday.  Tuesdays are special days around here because they are NOT a Monday, and we are one day closer to the weekend.  You see, glass always half full.

It is starting to feel a bit more like Summer minus the searing heat.  We do not get much of that here in Idaho which is why I love it so much.  Humidity is always nice and low too.

Idaho truly is one of this country's best kept secrets.  It is a beautiful state.  Everything you could want is right here.  Mountains, pine forests, green valleys and the perfect climate.  We do rank high on the earthquake zone, but fortunately I have only felt an earthquake one time...and it was an itty bitty shake.

My photo of the day....

This bush is in my back yard and I love it's tiny bouquets so much because they remind me of family.  All bundled together with each flower adding it's own special magic.

That is how I feel about my family.  My children are all so different and each add their own magic to our family unit.  I am not only referring to my boys either.  Amber and Cooper add beauty to our family as well.

And to my daughter I say, you may not be a flower in our bouquet right now, but your spot is open and waiting for you always.  Your heart has to be pure and your mind free of hatred and anger before your roots will grow.

And finally I say to the weeds who are constantly trying to infiltrate our little bouquet...we are far beyond your reach, and way out of your league.  Feel free to sit back and watch our magic because there is nothing you can do or say to change the beauty, love and strength of my family.

I love my little bouquet.  <3

Growing Boys...

The boys wanted burgers for dinner.  Mama does not do fast food, so Jack decided to drive Casey up to Wendy's to get some dinner.  And, "Casey drove!"

Jack said he did great.  :)

And Blake is no longer a 1 burger boy...

My babies are growing too fast.  :*)
