April 30, 2015 - See Ya April!
What a great month this has been!
Gardening is off to a great start. The back yard looks amazing, and I am looking forward to a great harvest this year.
I am also enjoying my journey into backyard chickens. Never in a million years would I have dreamed of falling in love with chickens. Chickens! But I do love my Thelma, Louise, Rosie and Annabelle. I love spending my afternoons with them on our beautiful spring days. They are growing so fast. Garrett brought home a ton of lumber today. I am excited to start building my chicken coop.
I may be a little obsessed though. Last night, as I was tucking my chicks into their nest...yep, I do that...I noticed some strawberries in their crate. *GASP* I freaked out! "Who fed my chickies strawberries without my permission?" LOL. I can be so silly some times. Such a mother hen am I.
Jack had an appointment with his vascular surgeon yesterday, and all is well. His stents are holding, and the doctor said he is doing great. The boys are awesome as well. Garrett is working on his new business venture, and I am very excited about it. Brandon and Amber are doing great, and my grandbabies are growing healthy, strong and 100 percent adorable! Amber's business plans are coming along great too. I am so proud of her. Casey is loving his new job, and has made great progress on his engine swap on his beloved S12. Blake is doing amazingly well in school, and works very hard. What can I say? I love my family, and we are all very blessed.
Sadly, cycling adventures fell by the wayside this month. No excuses really. The weather has been mostly perfect. A little windy at times, but really great for cycling. Total rides for this month were only a whopping 44.95 miles.
Welcome to May!
Until next time...enjoy life, and be kind to one another.
Peace.

It is a little surprising to me, but that is okay. I am slowing down a little, and that is not such a bad thing. Thankfully Garrett jump started two new hobbies for me...gardening and chickens...and those two help keep me active too. No complaints from me.
For dinner tonight, pizza. Pizza, on a Thursday? Inconceivable!
May is going to be an amazing month!
The diva says so, so I know it is true. :)

April 29, 2015 - Beards and Chickens
I have been miserable since yesterday, with a very painful toothache. This afternoon, I was outside in my garden, watching my chickens when son Garrett got home.
Then this happened...
Beards and chickens, chickens and beards. It is the most fun I have ever had with my camera. I felt better instantly.
Thank you son. :)
Most hilarious picture ever!
The chicken whisperer.
I think Garrett and Thelma were made for each other.
Teaching Thelma how to selfie.
Miss Lilly wanted in on that selfie action.
Until next time...enjoy life, and be kind to one another.
Peace.

April 28, 2015 - Garden Update
I have not planted my veggies in the ground yet, but they are growing beautifully I have never been one to call myself a "green thumb," however I may graduate to that title soon.
The weather looks promising for the rest of the week. Maybe I will do some planting this weekend.
Peace.

My beautiful veggie plants.
I have some strawberries.
Some of my seeds have sprouted, and they look amazing! Looks like I outsmarted those squirrels after all. The only problem is that I am not sure which plant is which. When the squirrels attacked the seeds, the labels fell to the ground. Oh well, it will be excited to figure out which plant survived.
Blake found a lovely caterpillar crawling across the patio. So what does he do? He took the time to transplant it on a nice, lovely, green crunch leaf...before the chicks made a meal out of it.
Miss Lilly...my gardening partner/Chicken Hawk. *love*
Chicken butts...

April 27, 2015 - Another Delightful Monday
If all Mondays could be as delightful as these last two Mondays have been, they would be my favorite day of the week.
Blake did stay home from school today as he has managed to get get a dreadful cold. Colds are usually not a big deal, but when Blake catches a cold, his tonsils get really angry.
The weather was perfect, so I suggested he go outside and rest in the sun while I worked on the garden, and let the chickens run about. A good dose of vitamin D did him a world of good.
I am working on training the chickens because I want to them to come to me when I call them. I would like to let them free range for a few hours a day while I am gardening and keeping an eye of them. For the most part, they are independent little hens, but at least they stick together. Thelma seems to be the lead hen. They follow her around quite well, and of all the hens, Thelma is the closest to me. She loves to snuggle.
After a few minutes of free ranging in the yard, Blake decided to lay down in the grass and they all came running over to him. Blake is the chicken whisperer. Then I sat in the grass next to him, and all my babies came running over to me. YAY! I was so happy. I felt like a true mother hen. It was adorable. :)
Then the best part of the day, my daughter-in-law Amber and grandson Cooper surprised us with a visit. Amber is working hard, getting ready to start her own business, and had been out running errands with Cooper. I am so proud of Amber. Going into business for yourself is a scary proposition...I know, I did it! Amber is not afraid. She has a dream, and she will see her dream come true, and it will be amazing! A lot of work...but amazing. Go Amber!!
My chickies.
Thelma and Louise.
Oh look, cilantro!

Just call me mother hen. I love my little chickies so. :)
