My 365...
Hello Monday. :)
Casey had an appointment with his orthodontist this morning, and has another follow-up next Thursday. They are recommending surgery for Casey, but rather than shortening the lower jaw, they want to extend the upper jaw. There is simply no room for all his teeth on his upper jaw. :*( Fortunately, gone are the days of wiring your mouth closed during healing, the torture I had to endure as a teenager when my lower jaw was shortened, now titanium screws are used stabilize the bones for healing.
It does sound like quite the major surgical ordeal, so Casey is already refusing the treatment and surgery. Having been through similar surgery, I know how he feels and can't say that I blame him. However, after the healing process I was so glad I went through with it. We are taking one day at a time. He has agreed to "possibly" go with braces to work on the spacing in his upper jaw. I am praying that after he sees improvement with that process, he will be more comfortable about moving on to the next step.
Technology has really improved in the 30 plus years since I had my oral surgery, and I keep reminding him of that, but it does not make the journey any less scary. After all the x-rays and work up next week, we will meet with an oral surgeon just to get information on the procedures, and then go from there. Please keep Casey in your thoughts and prayers that this is not too difficult of a journey for him. <3
It has been an otherwise quiet Monday thus far. The high temperature today was 103°f...yikes! Needless to say, I am staying in doors...no bike ride for me. It is fire season too, so thanks to all the fires, the air quality is not too great. It looks beautiful outside today though. Crystal clear blue skies. But when you walk outside it feels like someone is aiming a giant blow dryer on HOT at your entire body.

Don't let this happen to your pets! Heat exhaustion "Derps." Keep your pets hydrated, and inside where it is nice an cool, or they will have Derp moments too. :)
