Mommy plus Five

April 25, 2015 - Cycling Challenge, Ride 13

We rode down the hill to meet Casey for dinner on his dinner break.  It was chilly and windy, but a nice ride.

The ride home was a walk home, as Blake managed to get a flat tire.  But exercise is exercise.  :)

Total walk/ride 4.94 miles.



Shift two for Casey should be easier after some hot apple pie in a mug.  :)
Chickie Update!

(Hatched first week of April)

All four of my girls are doing great.  They have started to roost on the side of their bed, and can jump in and out when they want.  They are really starting to spread their wings.  They spend an hour a day outside in the yard with me for fresh air and sunshine.  No more pasty butt for Rosie...yay!  They all seem happy and healthy, and I love them!  They all snuggle together to sleep too, so they seem to love each other.  <3

A now a word from Miss Lilly...

April 24, 2015 - "I am a chicken...I poop, it is what I do."


And now a word from mama...

I am home alone tonight, all the boys are out, so I decided to cook up some chicken Enchiladas Suizas, Mexican rice with all the trimmings.  It came out delicious!  I have to say though, it is a little weird cooking chicken, when you have four little chickens watching from the next room.  All four, perched on the side of their bed...staring.  They either approved, or were horridly offended.  :P

Today would have been the perfect day for cycling, but the boys were working on the car and were not feeling it.  :'(

I did the next best thing.  I combined three of my favorite things...cycling, chickens and photography. Don't worry, I would never take the girls cycling, but they did enjoy sitting for a while in my basket by the front window.

They are so cute!

Casey has never replaced an entire engine in a car before, but that does not stop him.  Just like his big brothers Garrett and Brandon, there is no challenge too great for Casey.  His car needs a new engine, a new engine it shall have.  Garrett rebuilt his old Ford truck, Brandon has built from scratch some amazing computers.  There is no task too hard for my boys.  They get that trait from their father.

In my mind's eye, Casey's engine swap is much like performing a heart-lung transplant with no prior knowledge or experience. A truly daunting task.  One certainly not for the faint of heart.  As far as Casey is concerned...a piece of cake.  Maybe a HUGE piece of cake...but a piece of cake none the less.

I am not going to lie, having car parts scattered all over my garage has made me more than just a little bit crazy.  I would have given up on this project months ago, but not Casey.  I do admire his stubborn determination.  It might take months to complete, but he will get his S12 running again!

"Son, maybe you should sell all the parts and just get a new car?"

"Excuse me mom?  Out of the question! I love my S12!"

Just a short ride today.  Blake had his choir concert at school tonight, so we cycled to school, then out to dinner at IHOP after.  We had a delightful time.

Blake is singing bass now.  Watching his performance, and listening to him sing, I have to wonder why he has to grow up so darn fast?  He loves being in the choir, and sings so well.

Can I just say...I LOVE my family!  We are not perfect.  There are days that the boys would like to invite each other to take a long walk off of a short pier.  We have our moments, we don't always get along, we have misunderstandings and disagreements from time to time...but we love each other.  We love each other, and we are there for each other no matter what.  I am very proud of that, and I am very proud and thankful for my four sons.  *love*

Yesterday, having all the boys here at home helping Jack and I work on the garden, was so much fun. We laughed, acted silly and had a wonderful visit.  My precious grandchildren Cooper and Penny are delightful and funny, and I loved sitting with Amber and chatting with her when she joined us after work.

I am very blessed.  WE are very blessed.  :)
