My 365...

Happy Saturday Planet!

We are enjoying a magnificently perfect Saturday.  The skies are crystal clear blue, and the temperature a delightful 65°f.

I enjoyed a visit from my daughter-in-law Amber, and my grand babies Cooper and Penny last night.  I love it when they come to visit.  My grandchildren are the lights of my life.  They bring me so much love and joy. Cooper and I enjoyed a game of grocery store, and he sat and snuggled with me for a while.  Penny is a little snuggle bug too, happy, peaceful and full of smiles.  As for Amber, as much as we used to drive each other crazy...we now really enjoy each other's company.  We laugh, we act silly...she is awesome.  "Love you Amber!"

The plan for today is...there is no plan for today.  That is my favorite sort of weekend.  I am making some chicken and dumplings for dinner, that should be yummy.  I have also got to update my Mac to the latest and greatest software.  I need my total geek-out every now and then.  I am a nerd after all.

A special prayer today for my favorite YouTube couple Charles and Alli Trippy.  After recently undergoing his second brain surgery, Charles discovered this past week that the tumor was malignant.  Thoughts, prayers and strength go out to them.  If anyone can fight Cancer, Charles Trippy can!  Go Charles!

Please keep Charles and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Hope your weekend is perfect!

My 365...

Happy Friday planet!

Casey and I got off to an early start this morning, as he had a 9:00AM appointment to see his surgeon.  We decided to ride our bikes, since it did not seem that far on the map.  It was a chilly morning, in the upper 30's when we left, making for a nice early morning brisk ride.  Which is an elegant way of saying..OMG it was so freaking cold!  lol :)

After the surgeon's appointment, Casey treated me to breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants, then we enjoyed a scenic bike ride home.  It was an awesome morning with my son.  Thank you Casey.  :)

The plan for Casey is to see another surgeon the first of November to have his wisdom teeth extracted.  A couple of weeks to heal from that, then go into the hospital the end of November for the major jaw surgery. The surgeon said he will cut and expand the upper jaw using plates and screws, then cut and pull the lower jaw back using the same procedure.  It is going to be major surgery, but it will definitely improve Casey's quality of life.  And if anyone can get through this sort of trauma...Casey can.  I had to giggle because Casey and I were sitting in the exam room and the surgeon said, "Okay Casey, what we are going to do is remove your jaws..."  The look on Casey's face was priceless!  I looked at him and said, "No honey, he is going to move your jaws, not remove them.  You kind of need your jaws to keep your face on."

The good news is that if everything goes smoothly, Casey will not have to heal with his mouth wired closed like I did when I had similar surgery at his age.  He will have to be on a liquid diet for 6 - 8 weeks.  We will be putting everything in the blender...from cheeseburger to pizza!  :P  The surgeon is confident that Casey will do great.

This is going to be a stressful few months for Casey, but come the first of next year...everything will be amazing for him.  Thank God.

Have an awesome weekend everyone!
Ready to ride with comrade Casey.
The Basque area of downtown Boise.  They have a great restaurant that I want to try!
 Casey's vanilla frappuccino.  Cheers!
 A yummy breakfast.

 Such a gorgeous day today!
Casey had the right idea on this bike ride...stay warm any way you can.
Beautiful Autumn colors.
 Total ride...12.23 miles.

My 365...

We are enjoying a beautiful Autumn day today.  Blake is off from school today and tomorrow because of teacher meetings, so we both got to sleep in this morning.  That was absolutely glorious!

We were sitting down for lunch when the phone rang.  Blake answered, and it was one of my clients who knows I am the only one to answer the phone, so they kept right on talking thinking Blake was me.  He handed me the phone and said..."OMG, They thought I was you...I feel violated!"  LOL, He is so funny. There is not a day goes by that Blake does not make me laugh.  I love this kid.  :)

Casey was off today too, and received his first pay-check in the mail.  Yay Casey!  He quickly went to the bank to open a bank account, and when he got home, he invited Blake to go with him to Hastings so that he could buy his little brother a video game.  How awesome is he?

My sons are amazing.  I thank God every day for such an awesome family.

It was way too windy for a bike ride, so instead we enjoyed a nice, peaceful day of chill.  That is good to have every now and then.  Tomorrow Casey and I meet with the surgeon!

Hope your day was a good one planet!

Blake decided to rake the leaves today.
 Dozer had other plans.

My 365...

Why does eating 3 meals a day have to be so difficult?  I am determined to start eating better this month, so that I can be the healthiest me ever.  I have no vices, I do not drink, I do not smoke, I do not do any recreational drugs...I already have to take too many medications for my RA...and I exercise regularly.  Wait, is chocolate a vice?  Nah...chocolate is a vegetable, the "Googles" told me so.  I am not in the best shape I could be in.  Garrett and Kori are in amazing shape, they work hard at it, and they are helping me with a good diet plan.  The problem I am encountering is that it is too much food!

I made some chicken breast last night with zucchini, Brussels sprouts and sweet potato.  I served a small plate, and I could not finish it.  Too much food.  When I got up this morning, I scrambled an egg with a little bit of cheese and sliced red pepper on a piece of whole wheat toast...could not finish it.  Too much food.  What the heck?  I would have been satisfied with a nice warm cup of Earl Gray and a piece of toast.  My body is used to eating one meal a day...whenever I feel like it.  But I am not ready to give up yet!  I have to kick this body out of starvation mode, and into a nice healthy speedy metabolism.  The dogs love it because they are the lucky recipients of my leftovers. I can do this right?  Just remember, frequent small meals.  Blech!

Today is Blake's last day of school for the week.  There are teacher meetings on Thursday and Friday, so we get to enjoy an awesome 4-day weekend!  I am hoping the weather holds out so we can get some good riding in.  Casey has an appointment on Friday with the maxillofacial surgeon so we can schedule Casey's jaw surgery.  I am so excited for him, but worried at the same time as I know first hand how difficult that journey can be.  No one wants to have surgery, but it is really necessary for Casey.  I know he will do great, and will get through this with flying colors like he gets through everything in life.  My Casey...he is a bad ass.

Hope you are having a great day planet!

Until next time...

My 365...

Yay it is here...October!  I love it!

The only signal to Autumn that I don't like is that good watermelons are gone.  All that is left is tasteless, pale, pathetic little wannabe watermelons that taste more like cucumber.  *sigh*  I still wish we had a good year round supplier of that delicious fruit.

I had some delightful surprise visitors last night.  Amber stopped by with the babies after she dropped Brandon off at work.  It has only been a little over a week since I have seen them, but oh my goodness how they have grown!  Cooper is getting so tall!  He is as funny and handsome as ever.  And Penny, she is a little living doll.  She is so sweet and so content.  Just like her big Cooper, her smile lights up the room.  They are both precious.

Blake and I enjoyed a bike trip to the grocery store this evening.  I bought lots of fresh fruits and veggies to start our Shaytober month off on the right foot.  Eating healthy is so important.  No more junk food in my house!

Hope you had a great day planet.  :)

A gorgeous first day of October.
And a beautiful day for a bike ride.
Blake helping pack the groceries on the bike.
Pretty good grocery haul for my old bike.  All healthy choices too.

Pictures of the grandbabies from last night.  :)
Cooper's smile lights up the room.

Precious baby Penny.
