My 365...

Casey and I met with the surgeon this morning for a pre-op visit.  The surgery is on!!!  Oh my God I am excited and scared all at the same time.

The surgeon feels that he can proceed with the jaw re-positioning with the lower wisdom teeth still in place, and although Casey will need to have his mouth wired closed post recovery, it IS the safer way to go surgically speaking.  Casey goes in to his orthodontist on Thursday to have heavier gauge wires installed in his braces and new impressions made.  We have a second pre-op on Monday January 13, then orthognathic, both upper and lower jaw surgery, is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14th!

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!

This surgeon, and Casey's Orthodontist are amazing.  They are doing everything they can for Casey, and I can not even begin to express my gratitude to them and their staff for putting Casey first.  So thankfully, oral surgeon number two is out of the picture, and so is the miserable pain of wisdom teeth extraction.  Now we need to prepare for this mammoth undertaking.  Casey is amazing and strong, so I know he will do great.  I on the other hand, may need some serious Valium to get through this...but we will get there.  I know we will.

Wow, as I am sitting here typing this, I have a huge lump in my throat and a stomach ache.  I literally just experienced a major mental breakdown.  I think about what is about to happen, and I want to cry.  I have vivid memories of what I went through when I had the lower jaw surgery at the same age.  But I also know that medicine has come a LONG way in the past 34 years.  If I could get through it, I know Casey can.  I have to get it together!  I have to be strong for Casey.  I hate that he was born with all these complications, but am so thankful that with surgery, everything can be fixed.

~~~ Breathe in ~~~ Breathe out.
Please keep Casey and his surgeon in your thoughts and prayers so that everything goes smoothly, and that Casey has a great outcome, and an easy recovery.  Thank you!!
Hope your day was a good one planet.
Until next time...
Casey, waiting to see the surgeon.
 He is so ready for this journey to be over.
My 365...
Monday done....check!
We had a good day.  Casey's oral surgeon reviewed the x-rays that Dr. A took when we went in for the wisdom teeth consultation two months ago, and he needed more views.  Fortunately Casey had an appointment with his orthodontist this afternoon, so the surgeon called ahead and told him what views he needed to see. We will be going back to see the surgeon at 11:00am tomorrow after he reviews the new x-rays.  Not sure what all this means yet, but I am secretly hoping we can skip the wisdom tooth extraction, and get right to surgery. That would be less trauma for Casey.  We will know more tomorrow.
Blake went back to school today, and had a good day.  He was ready for a week long nap when he got home this afternoon.  His request was food, homework, then BED.  Yeah, that is not true...it was food, BED, then homework...lol  I remember those days well.  School can be exhausting.
Hope you had a great day planet.  Seems 2014 is starting out to be a great year.  I had a feeling it would be...and so it shall be.  Make it so!
Until next time...
My 365...
And it is done.  All my Christmas decorations are boxed and put away.  The living room looks so empty now.  Clean...but empty.  We wait all year for the holiday season to get here, and in a flash, it is gone.  No complaints here though.  We had a wonderful holiday season.
There is still one gift missing.  I placed an order for a gift on December 9th for my daughter-in-law Amber.  It is something she had mentioned that she would love to have, so I was very excited to get it for her.  What I did not realize at the time that I placed the order, was that it would be custom made for her...which would take a little longer.  Another small detail I was not aware of, was that the artist lives in the Ukraine.  You know Ukraine, that country over there by Russia and Romania.  That makes the gift even more special, but it is going to take forever to get here.  I did exchange some emails with the lady making the gift for me, and made a new friend.  "Hi Sveta!"  As of last tracking check, the gift is in New York, so it has made it to the USA.  Yay!
Tomorrow is a big day.  The oral surgeon that is doing Casey's jaw surgery wants me to get the latest X-Rays to him.  I am not sure what his plan is, but we are anxious to find out.  I just have to keep reminding myself that everything will be okay.
Have a wonderful Monday planet!
Until next time...
Lots of wide-open spaces in the living room now that the Christmas tree is gone.
My 365...
Hello?  Has anyone seen Blake?  Yeah, either have I.  He is hiding around here somewhere, trying to avoid finishing up his "Canada" essay that is due on January 10.  Blake hates writing, which is astonishing to me because he, just like his brothers, is quite creative.  All four boys are really good writers, artists, and all around freaking amazing human beings.  :)
Blake has already done all the research, and has his notes pretty much completed, he has only to put it all together in an outstanding final draft.  He will get an "A" on this paper, I know he will.  He is really stressed out about presenting it though.  He has severe stage fright, and just the mere thought of presenting something to the entire class makes him light-headed.  I told him we would practice it every day until he is comfortable with everything he is presenting...then it will be easy.
Now to find that rascal...
***Update*** It is now 8:34pm, and his paper is done!  And amazing too I might add.  :)
Hope you had a great Saturday planet.  It was a beautiful sun-shinning, crisp, cold day here in my world. There is nothing more beautiful thank Idaho blue skies.
Until next time...
My 365...
Is this day over yet?  Who ever says that about a Friday?  Usually not me...but I am glad this day is over. Way too much going on for this mama. Now I know why busy is a four letter word.
The good news is that we are keeping Casey's appointment with the oral surgeon on Monday.  Not sure what his plan is, but he asked us to bring the latest xrays, and I am hoping that it means the wisdom teeth do not need to come out, and we can schedule surgery for February.  *deep breath*  This makes me excited for Casey, and terrified all at the same time.  Although I know this surgery is what is best for Casey, I am still so worried about all that he will be going through, as I have been through it before.  With me it was only the lower jaw, with Casey it is both lower and upper.  Whatever happens, I have faith that God will let us know what needs to happen next, and He will take care of Casey for me.
I can now *exhale*...at least until Monday.  This is going to be a busy weekend too.  I have end of year support to give to my last few clients, and Blake has his first essay to finish up.  I just have to remember to schedule a few nice, long, peaceful meditation moments a couple of times each day.  In other words...take a nap!
Have a great weekend planet!
Until next time...
My 365...
Today has felt like a Monday all day.  I got a lot done, which is a good thing, but I am "day" confused. Tomorrow is Friday right?
This coming Monday was supposed to be Casey's pre-op appointment for his surgery in a few weeks, but that has all been placed on hold.  Thanks to Dr. A's office staff dropping the ball, and the insurance company conveniently misplacing all the medical records for Casey, we are having to start the authorization process for his wisdom teeth extraction yet again.  I am confident that we will get it through this time...if I call every single day to check up on it.  But that is okay, we will get it done.  I have faith that everything is moving along according to plan.  May not be my plan, but everything will be okay.  :)
Hope you had a great "Not-Monday" sort of day.  Tomorrow is indeed Friday, and we can enjoy another weekend before school starts back up for Blake on Monday.  But shhhh....don't tell him that.  It will just ruin his day.
Until next time...
Today was a good day for Blake to practice his kick-flip.
My 365...
Happy New Year!
We are enjoying a wonderful New Year's day here at home.  Amber and the babies are here, and son Brandon will be here after work.  Garrett and Casey are here too.  A perfect way to welcome the New Year, is with my family all together at home.  :)
Amber is doing all the cooking today, so I get to sit back, relax, and enjoy my grandchildren.  "Thank you Amber."
Speaking of grandchildren, Penny is just a few days shy of 6 months old, and she is crawling!  Amber and I were chatting, and Penny was sitting on the floor, next thing you know, she is on all fours making her way over to the diaper bag.  Wow!  Incredible!  This little princess is growing so fast.
Cooper brought all of his friends from home to show me.  He has an adorable lineup of little buddies that are special to him.  He tucked them all into Blake's bed for the afternoon.
Oh goodness, I do love my grandchildren so much!  *love*
Hope you are having a great New Year's Day everyone!
Best wishes for the most amazing year to come.
Until next time...
